  • Elizabeth (Lizzy) Perks

    REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST

I'm a Psychologist supporting child, adolescent and parent mental health and wellbeing.

I love working with my clients and their parents to identify difficulties, strengthen relationships and build skills.

Sometimes difficulties in families are clinical in nature (such as a diagnosis of depression or anxiety), in these cases I work with families using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I can assess students who may be struggling with learning disabilities, ADHD or anxiety and I help teachers support students in the school or pre-school environment.

Not all issues between parents and children or in families are clinical - sometimes something is just... not right. Attachment can be difficult, families experience challenges such as grief, separation, life transitions - sometimes being a parent or a kid is just really hard. A psychologist can support families by providing a safe space to talk. We can work through uncomfortable or challenging emotions and build tolerance, appropriate boundaries and skills in communicating our feelings and needs effectively.

I am warm, collaborative, compassion-focussed and evidence-based in my approach. I also believe (as do my young clients) that there is an important place for humour in therapy!

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
